The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Last Day came near, and the moon split apart. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 with down-cast eyes they shall go forth from their graves, as though they were scattered locusts. 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 And We carried Nooh upon a ship of wooden planks and nails. 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And indeed, We have caused such [floating vessels] to remain forever a sign [of Our grace unto man]: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 And there belied the A'ad; so how dreadful have been My torment and warning! 18 And We sent against them a howling wind in a Day of continuous of ill fortune 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
