The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 They have rejected it and have followed their own desires, but all matters will be settled (by God). 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 So turn away from them, (O Prophet). On the Day when a caller shall call them to a thing most terrible, 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ Before them Noah's people also gave the lie (to his Message). They rejected Our servant as a liar, saying: “He is a madman”; and he was rebuffed. 9 so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 Sailing, before Our eyes, a reward for him who was denied. 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
