The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 And when they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Just a customary magic!” 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 which are full of wisdom; but the warnings do not help. 5 turn thou away from them. On the Day when the Summoning Voice will summon [man] unto something that the mind cannot conceive, 6 with down-cast eyes they shall go forth from their graves, as though they were scattered locusts. 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 Thereupon he called out to his Sustainer, "Verily, I am defeated; come Thou, then, to my succour!" 10 Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 We have made the Qur'an easy to derive lessons from. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 22
