The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 They have rejected it and have followed their own desires, but all matters will be settled (by God). 3 They have certainly received the kind of news in which there is a lesson and strong words of wisdom, 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad, 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together according to a measure already ordained. 12 We bore him on an [ark] which, made of planks and nails, 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 21 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran: is there anyone who would receive admonition? 22
