The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic." 2 They also gave the lie to (the splitting asunder of the moon) and only followed their desires. Yet everything is destined to reach an end. 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together according to a measure already ordained. 12 And We bore him on that which was made of planks and nails 13 Sailing, before Our eyes, a reward for him who was denied. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 17 'Ad also gave the lie (to Hud). So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 We have made the Qur'an easy to derive lessons from. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 22
