The tribe of Thamud also rejected Our warnings: 23 For they said; Is it a mortal man, alone among us, that we are to follow? Then indeed we should fall into error and madness. 24 "Is it that the Message is sent to him, of all people amongst us? Nay, he is a liar, an insolent one!" 25 [And God said:] "On the morrow they will come to know who the boastful liar is! 26 We are sending to them as a trial, a shecamel, so watch them and have patience. 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 They called together their companions and agreed to slay the she-camel. 29 and how severe was the suffering which I inflicted when My warnings were disregarded! 30 Verily, We sent against them a single Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.), and they became like the dry stubble of a fold-builder. 31 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 32 The folk of Lot rejected warnings. 33 Verily We! We sent upon them a gravel-storm save the household of Lut; them We delivered at early dawn. 34 As a Favour from Us, thus do We reward him who gives thanks (by obeying Us). 35 Surely Lot warned his people that We shall seize them (with Our chastisement), but they doubted the warnings. 36 And they indeed sought to shame his guest (by asking to commit sodomy with them). So We blinded their eyes, "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 37 Indeed an abiding chastisement came upon them in the morning. 38 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 39 We have made it easy indeed to learn lessons from the Quran.
