(The tribe of) Thamud rejected warnings 23 So they said: What! a single mortal from among us! Shall we follow him? Most surely we shall in that case be in sure error and distress: 24 Out of all of us has the Reminder been given to him alone? Rather, he is indeed an arrogant liar' 25 (We told Our Messenger): “Tomorrow they shall know who is the insolent liar. 26 For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience! 27 And declare thou unto them that water hath been divided between them; every drinking shall be by turns. 28 But they called their companion who took hold of her and hamstrung her. 29 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 30 We loosed against them one Cry, and they were as the wattles of a pen-builder. 31 We made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would take heed? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warnings. 33 We sent a stone-hurtling storm against them, except the family of Lot whom We saved in the early hours of the morning 34 As grace from Us. Thus We reward him who giveth thanks. 35 And he indeed had warned them of Our blow, but they did doubt the warnings. 36 And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) "Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 37 And in truth the punishment decreed befell them early in the morning. 38 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 39 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 40
