Thamud denied the warning 23 For they said: "A man! Alone from among us, that we are to follow? Truly, then we should be in error and distress or madness!" 24 Has the [Divine] message been revealed to him alone of all of us? No, he is a boastful liar." 25 'They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar. 26 Verily, We are sending the she-camel as a test for them. So watch them [O Salih (Saleh)], and be patient! 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 32 The people of Lot rejected the warnings. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 as a blessing from Us: this is how We reward the thankful. 35 Lot warned them of Our punishment, but they disputed the warnings -- 36 and even demanded that he give up his guests [to them]: whereupon We deprived them of their sight [and thus told them, as it were]: "Taste, then, the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded!" 37 and early in the morning the punishment decreed overtook them -- 38 "Taste, then, the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded!" 39 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 40

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
