Thamud denied the warning 23 and said, 'What, shall we follow a mortal, one out of ourselves? Then indeed we should be in error and insanity! 24 "Is it that the Reminder is sent to him [Prophet Salih (Saleh)] alone from among us? Nay, he is an insolent liar!" 25 (We told Our Messenger): “Tomorrow they shall know who is the insolent liar. 26 Verily We are sending the she-camel as a test for them, so watch them thou and have patience. 27 And let them know that the water [of their wells] is to be divided between them, with each share of water equitably apportioned." 28 But they called their companion, and he dared and hamstrung [her]. 29 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 30 Verily, We sent against them a single Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.), and they became like the dry stubble of a fold-builder. 31 We made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would take heed? 32 The folk of Lot rejected warnings. 33 We sent a sandstorm against them which destroyed them all, except the family of Lot, whom We saved at the break of dawn, 34 as a favour from Us. Thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 Surely Lot warned his people that We shall seize them (with Our chastisement), but they doubted the warnings. 36 Even his guests they had solicited of him; so We obliterated their eyes, saying, 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 37 And indeed, abiding suffering did befall them early on the morrow: 38 So have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings. 39 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 40
