The tribe of Thamud denied the Noble Messengers. 23 So they said, “What! Shall we follow a man from among us? If we do, we are indeed astray, and insane!” 24 Has the Reminder been cast upon him alone among us? Nay, rather he is an impudent liar.' 25 [And God said:] "On the morrow they will come to know who the boastful liar is! 26 “We shall send a she-camel to test them, therefore O Saleh, wait and have patience.” 27 And tell them that the water is to be divided between them, each drink for each in turn. 28 But they called their commander, who seized and hamstrung her. 29 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 We made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would take heed? 32 The people of Lot cried lies to the warnings. 33 Verily We! We sent upon them a gravel-storm save the household of Lut; them We delivered at early dawn. 34 As a favour from Us. Thus We recompense him who giveth thanks. 35 And he had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning. 36 And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) "Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 37 and early in the morning the punishment decreed overtook them -- 38 So taste My chastisement and My warning. 39 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 40
