Thamud gave the lie to the warnings, 23 So they said, “What! Shall we follow a man from among us? If we do, we are indeed astray, and insane!” 24 Hath the remembrance been given unto him alone among us? Nay, but he is a rash liar. 25 [And God said:] "On the morrow they will come to know who the boastful liar is! 26 Verily, We are sending the she-camel as a test for them. So watch them [O Salih (Saleh)], and be patient! 27 And let them know that the water [of their wells] is to be divided between them, with each share of water equitably apportioned." 28 But they called their companion, so he took (the sword) and slew (her). 29 How terrible was My punishment and warning. 30 Behold, We let loose upon them one single blast [of Our punishment,] and they became like the dried-up, crumbling twigs of a sheepfold. 31 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warning. 33 and behold, We let loose upon them a tempest which rained stones upon them, except upon Lot's household whom We rescued in the last hours of the night 34 as a blessing from Us: this is how We reward the thankful. 35 Surely Lot warned his people that We shall seize them (with Our chastisement), but they doubted the warnings. 36 And certainly they endeavored to turn him from his guests, but We blinded their eyes; so taste My chastisement and My warning. 37 And early in the morning the decreed punishment came upon them. 38 "Taste My punishment now that you have scorned My warnings!" 39 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 40

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
