The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He has created man: 3 and He taught him speech. 4 The sun and moon revolve to a computation; 5 [before Him] prostrate themselves the stars and the trees. 6 And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure, 7 That you not transgress within the balance. 8 And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance. 9 And earth -- He set it down for all beings, 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees with their dates in sheaths, 11 And the grain with (its) husk and fragrance. 12 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 And created jinn from the flame of fire. 15 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 16 The Lord of the Two Easts, the Lord of the Two Wests. 17 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 18 He has set flowing two seas that appear to meet. 19 but has created a barrier between them so that they will not merge totally. 20 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 21 There come forth from them pearls, both large and small. 22 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 23 By His command, the ships with raised masts sail on the sea like mountains. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
