The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Merciful One 1 has taught the Quran to (Muhammad). 2 He created man 3 He has taught him speech (and intelligence). 4 The sun and the moon move according to a fixed reckoning; 5 The stars and the trees prostrate. 6 And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance 7 Do not transgress the scales. 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 And the earth! He hath lain it out for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruits and palm trees with sheaths, 11 and grains with their husk and fragrant plants. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 and He created the jinn from smokeless fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 He is Lord of the two easts and Lord of the two wests. 17 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 23 Also, His are the ships that run, raised up like mountains upon the sea. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
