The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 who taught the Quran -- 2 He has created man: 3 He has imparted unto him articulate thought and speech. 4 The sun and moon rotate in a predestined orbit. 5 And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) prostrate in adoration. 6 And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 And establish the measures justly, nor decrease the due weight. 9 He has laid out the earth for His creatures. 10 Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates). 11 Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He created man from dry clay like earthen vessels, 14 And created jinn from the flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 Lord of the two easts and of the two wests is He. 17 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 18 He has made the two seas to flow freely (so that) they meet together: 19 between them a barrier they do not overpass. 20 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 21 Out of them come Pearls and Coral: 22 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 23 His are the ships with elevated sails upon the sea like mountains. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
