The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Most Merciful 1 Bestowed the Qur'an, 2 He has created man: 3 and He has taught him the Explanation. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 And the stars and trees prostrate. 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 (Transgress not in the Balance, 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 And the earth He has put for the creatures. 10 Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates); 11 and a variety of corn with both husk and grain. 12 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 13 He created man of clay like the potter's, 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests! 17 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 18 He has set flowing two seas that appear to meet. 19 There is a barrier between them. They encroach not (one upon the other). 20 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 21 From these seas come forth pearls and coral. 22 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 23 By His command, the ships with raised masts sail on the sea like mountains. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
