The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Beneficent 1 Hath made known the Qur'an. 2 He created man, 3 [And] taught him eloquence. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 and He has raised up the heaven and has set a balance 7 that you may not transgress in the balance, 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 He spread out the earth for the people. 10 Therein are fruits and palm trees with sheaths, 11 Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created the human from clay, like earthenware 14 and He created the jinn from smokeless fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 Lord of the East and Lord of the West. 17 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 In-between the twain is a barrier which they pass not. 20 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 21 There come forth from the twain the pearl and the coral. 22 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 23 His are the lofty ships, that rear aloft on the sea like mountains. 24 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 25
