The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He created man 3 and has taught him articulate speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, 5 The stars and the trees prostrate themselves. 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 That you not transgress within the balance. 8 weigh, therefore, [your deeds] with equity, and cut not the measure short! 9 He positioned the earth for all the creatures: 10 There are fruits of all kinds on it, and date-palms with their clusters sheathed, 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 13 He created the human from clay, like earthenware 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 (He is) Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests: 17 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 18 He hath let loose the two seas. 19 Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 From them come forth the pearl and the coral. 22 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord would you then deny? 23 And His are the lofty ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas. 24 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 25
