The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ (Allah) Most Gracious! 1 It is He Who has taught the Qur'an. 2 He has created man: 3 He taught distinctness. 4 The sun and the moon are made punctual. 5 [before Him] prostrate themselves the stars and the trees. 6 And Allah has raised the sky; and He has set the balance. 7 Do not transgress the scales. 8 And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance. 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees with their dates in sheaths, 11 And grain chaffed and other food. 12 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 13 He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. 14 whereas the invisible beings He has created out of a confusing flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 The Lord of the Two Easts, the Lord of the Two Wests. 17 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 18 He has set the two oceans in motion, converging together. 19 [yet] between them is a barrier which they may not transgress. 20 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 21 There come forth from them pearls, both large and small. 22 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 23 And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains: 24 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 25
