The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 has taught the Koran. 2 Created man, 3 He taught distinctness. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, 5 The stars and the trees prostrate. 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 That ye should not trespass in respect of the balance. 8 Give just weight and do not skimp the scales. 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 There are fruits of all kinds on it, and date-palms with their clusters sheathed, 11 And grain covered with husk, and fragrant flowers. 12 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord, will ye twain belie? 13 He created man of clay like the potter's, 14 and He created the jinns from a flame of fire. 15 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 16 [He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets. 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He unleashed the two seas so that they merge together, 19 Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses. 20 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 21 From these seas come forth pearls and coral. 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 His too are the ships that run, raised up in the sea like land-marks. 24 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 25
