The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Beneficent 1 Has taught (you mankind) the Quran (by His Mercy). 2 He created man 3 And taught him to express clearly. 4 The sun and the moon are scheduled. 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure, 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 He spread out the earth for the people. 10 therein fruits, and palm-trees with sheaths, 11 and grains with their husk and fragrant plants. 12 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 13 He created man of a clay like the potter's, 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests! 17 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 18 He has set flowing two seas that appear to meet. 19 Whereas there is a barrier between them so they cannot encroach upon one another. 20 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 23 And His are the lofty ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
