The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and banana trees, 29 and extended shade, 30 And water poured out 31 and fruit abounding, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 and raised couches 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for those on the Right, 38
