The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Terror descends 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
