The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
