The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And shade extended 30 And water gushing, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 for the people of the right hand 38
