The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And extended shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
