The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water everflowing. 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
