The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 a host of the ancients 13 and a few from later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
