The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 abasing, exalting, 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And extended shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
