The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches; 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 So made them as maidens. 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those on the right. 38
