The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 and upraised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
