The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 there is no denying its coming 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The Companions of the Right 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and gushing water, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
