The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
