The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and amid the extended shade 30 Gushing water, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
