The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like hidden pearls, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and serried acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
