The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virginal, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for the people of the right hand 38
