The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 like hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and amid the extended shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
