The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 undiminished and never denied 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
