The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
