The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 a host of the ancients 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 undiminished and never denied 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
