The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and spreading shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
