The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
