The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and extended shade, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
