The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining face to face. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and spreading shade 30 And water poured out 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
