The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and a few from later times. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 Gushing water, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
