The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and a few from later times. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 facing one another. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And spreading shade, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
