The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And extended shade, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Lovers, friends, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
