The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the right. 38
