The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and flowing water 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
