The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and gushing water, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those on the right. 38

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
