The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and extended shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
